Genetic reasons: Called male pattern baldness, this can affect about 25% of men by the time they are 30. Though the reason is genetic another contributing factor is testosterone the male hormone. Unhealthy hair is produced or hair production is stopped by Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) generated by the conversion of testosterone. Men who do not have testosterone do not get male pattern baldness.

Skin diseases: Skin diseases can affect the scalp and cause hair loss. Some of the skin diseases include dandruff or seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis, scalp fungus such as ringworm and tinea captis.

Hair loss can be treated when you can stop hair fall and promote re-growth. Here are some natural ways you could treat hair loss:

1. Vitamins A, B, C and E are hair promoters. Include them in the diet. Why are these vitamins important for hair loss? Their beneficial actions include: providing sebum, improving blood circulation to the scalp by increasing absorption of oxygen and collagen.

2. Importance of scalp care: Remember to massage your scalp regularly with herbal oils like olive oil, jojoba oil, amla oil. In conditions of alopecia areata, several oils are proven to be beneficial.

3. Concern for scalp abuse: Blow drying and using chemical shampoos daily are to be avoided. Chemical treatments like coloring as well as straightening damage hair and scalp. Even washing your hair daily with hot water will cause it to get stripped of natural oils and make it dry and brittle.

4. Herbal care: Use herbal powders such as amla, shikakai, henna and ritha to shampoo and condition hair. Amla powder is a powerful natural anti-oxidant that prevents graying and hair loss and is the richest known source of vitamin C in natural form. Shikakai, often called as the Fruit of hair, has a low pH. After this use henna as a natural conditioner.

5. Lifestyle: Stress is a very important factor in hair loss. Try and reduce stress by meditating and exercising. Quit smoking; the nicotine in cigarettes constricts blood vessels and decreases blood flow to the scalp. If you want to prevent damage to the scalp from UV rays, avoid exposure to the sun.

A Brief Introduction about Chelation

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

The term Chelation has a number of distinct implications. Chelation is referred as chelated mineral when we are talking about nutrition and health. When we are talking about the chelation therapy it basically points to all the processes that are taking place inside the human body. On the other hand the materials related to the chelation process are referred to as the phenomenon which is taking place outside the human body. Well this process basically determines the processing of various minerals which together constitute a chelated mineral. Whereas the chelation process which is taking place inside the human body refers to the way in which the various chelating constituents function on various molecules and minerals which are not considered healthy for the human body.

Body

The process of chelation is a natural phenomenon and thus is called natural chelation. Natural chelation is the sum of a number of chelation processes which are taking place inside the human body including the production of various hormones, vitamins and enzymes. The process of natural chelation differs from chelation therapy because in case of the former, useful elements are produced and absorbed whereas in case of the latter undesirable harmful elements are removed from the human body.
